In the expression matrix[a:b, c:d],
the colon (:) is used for slicing a range of elements along a specific axis of the matrix.
So, when you have the expression matrix[a:b, c:d], 
you are selecting a sub-matrix that contains elements from rows a to b-1 and columns c to d-1.

# Create a 3x3 matrix
matrix = np.array([[1, 2, 3],
                   [4, 5, 6],
                   [7, 8, 9]])

# Slice the matrix to select a sub-matrix
sub_matrix = matrix[0:2, 1:3]

  Original Matrix:
Row 0 [1 2 3]
Row 1 [4 5 6]
Row 2 [7 8 9]

Sub-Matrix:
Row 0 [2 3]
Row 1 [5 6]

NOTE : Now, the sub-matrix correctly includes rows 0 to 1 (exclusive of row 2) and columns 1 to 2 (exclusive of column 3). The selected elements are [2, 3] and [5, 6].
