for a smooth process do the following, in your local/laptop

1. ssh-keygen (press enter / do not enter any passwords)

2. ssh-keyscan pcname.uni.edu > known_hosts (press enter)  " bast.hpc.uni.edu " (Bastian sever)

3. ssh-copy-id yourname@pcname.uni.edu ( press Enter) 

#you might need to enter your password to go through university VPN, two fact author - check your phone also, you can enter them )

sudo apt-get install keychain - install this on both machine - ssh stuff

mkdir $HOME/.ssh/    - do this in both machine
chmod 0700 $HOME/.ssh/ - do this on both machine 

ssh-keygen (press enter - do not enter any passwords)

cd $HOME/.ssh/   
ls  
$HOME/.ssh/id_rsa – contains your private key.
$HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pub – contain your public key. - this is the one we want

cat $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pub 
ssh-rsa AAssssBsNzwC1wc23456AA85AQABAAAB-----   - copy the very big key - this is a single line

go to your remote PC/HPC/sever
#open a file name as authorized_keys 
nano ~/.ssh/authorized_keys > paste above big key > save file 

now in your local laptop/machine, 
try to shh
ssh your_remote_pc_username@pcname.uni.edu - it should go through
