if you see read-only on your animation inside unity animation window, 
you might be trying to edit animation inside fbx file

in that case
you need to get the .anim file out of fbx file

expand the fbx file by pressing on the play button next to it
choose the animation inside it 
duplicate it using ctrl + D or cmd + D

have fun
