My issue was with node js version, I was having v12.20.0, which is not
supported for next@12 using lower version than next@12 will work.

I used the below command to solve the issue:

npm install next@11

check your supported version:
https://nextjs.org/docs/pages/building-your-application/upgrading/version-12
