If VS Code doesn't allow you to add, by saying

EACCES: permission denied, unlink '/usr/local/bin/code'

try this first 

sudo unlink /usr/local/bin/code

and then add the path

export PATH="$PATH:/Applications/Visual Studio Code.app/Contents/Resources/app/bin"

you can add from VScode as well by hitting "command shift P"
